HAMMOCK VEIL INSTALLATION

Installation FAU SOA 600 SF The Architecture of (in)visible thresholds Hammock Veil installation is inspired by the interaction between the water and the hardwood hammock in the Everglades. The rationale of the project aims to investigate the fusion of Art and Science in the field of Architecture, creating ‘hybrid’ manifestations of space. The installation was a result of a 2-day workshop with Philip Beesley, the project consultant from the University of Waterloo. The entire project was completed within this time frame, no prior design or fabrication was done. Details were designed and fabricated as necessary. Suspended from the ceiling, it is an illuminated family of acrylic topologies, or “spars”. The team includes faculty investigators: Associate Professor Mate Thitisawat and Associate Professor Emmanouil Vermisso, the interactive architecture consultant, one lighting consultant (Jerry Seay from Zenith Lighting Inc.), 14 students, and myself the project manager of this workshop.
